Transgender Day of Remembrance live-stream event

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998.

The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Please join us for a live-streamed event tomorrow, Friday November 20th, as we not only honor those who have been killed over the last year, but also see all our trans siblings who are living. Our event will include a short video by our TYTANs and a discussion about what we can all do to make the world safe for trans youth — especially BIPOC trans youth — so they can experience the joy of living their life authentically without fear.
