Great group this past Sunday with a number of folks experiencing relatively (or very) recent disclosure by their kiddos to the parents.

We talked about the grief aspects and how to get on-board with a teen that is so eager to forge ahead while us parents, sometimes, need a little time and space to process and catch up.

We talked about non-binary kiddos/presentations and the unique challenges therein, the complexities of dating and disclosure.  Disclosure both in the sense of when and how to disclose to family and friends as well as disclosure in the sense of dating and when does a trans-person disclose when meeting new friends/potential dating interests – tricky stuff!

Some miscellaneous resources that were named included:

    • Film:  The Most Dangerous Year
    • January 2017 issue of National Geographic that was devoted to transgender issues and people
    • The Katie Couric special/interview from a couple of years ago
    • Rain City Rock Camp
    • Camp 10-Trees (and there was a similar one mentioned in California but I can’t find the name in my notes…)

I was pretty impressed with the entire group and how space was held for some families that were experiencing some very fresh and raw emotions.  You folks are such a blessing with which to share community and solidarity.
