Hi, everyone. My name is Jana McCall, and I’m the parent of an adult transgender daughter and a 10 year old genderfluid child. Please let me know if it’s not acceptable to post this here. I’m a gender affirming therapist and I’ve recently opened a private practice in downtown Seattle and am accepting new clients. I’m a long time member of the forums for Gender Odyssey, now Transfamilies. I started attending groups when my 23 year old was 15 and had just come out as transgender female. After she stopped going to youth meetings, I stopped attending parent meetings, and focused my energy on going to graduate school to become a mental health counselor with a focus on art therapy. One thing that motivated me greatly was the fact that my daughter struggled to find affirming care, and still does to this day. I wanted to become the kind of counselor that she needed; the kind I wanted for myself and for my family. I recently returned for parent and youth meetings at Children’s Hospital after my youngest came out as genderfluid, so I thought I’d formally introduce myself on here.

I’m very passionate about working with trans youth. I’m even finishing up a book about doing Art Therapy with trans and non binary youth. I also spent the month of August with Camp Ten Trees and got to work as a wellness counselor for their first residential Trans Camp with the age range being 7-17. That was such a wonderful and life changing experience that I plan on going back next summer. In addition to my private practice, I work part time as a counselor with a non-profit agency in Seattle Public Schools. My student clients are culturally diverse and range in ages from 6-15. If you have any questions about the kind of work I do or what therapy with me could look like, please contact me here or through my website, or call me at 206-485-1552 http://www.janamccallexpressivetherapy.com

    Thanks for your time!

    Warmly,

    Jana McCall
