Quebec proposes change in personal ID — affecting trans community

In a nutshell, they are suggesting two different categories on ID cards, “sex” and “gender” — gender could include non-binary. You would not have to have surgery in order to use these categories, but it would in effect out you to whomever saw your ID. I don’t understand all the details, but for people who live in Canada, and for those who live near the US/Canada border, this could be a problematic change.
