My ex-H, who has been ambivalent in his support for our transgender young adult, brought up to me the changes in Sweden regarding allowing hormone treatment for underage youth. https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20230208-sweden-puts-brakes-on-treatments-for-trans-minors It seems that Sweden is becoming more restrictive in this area, citing concerns about research and trends in the transgender population being overrepresented in one gender for a while and then the other. Another of the concerns mentioned is complicating diagnoses such as autism and ADHD. I’d like to know if there is any reason to view previous WHO and APA recommendations for care differently. So far, I’ve been convinced that affirming care is clearly the best way to go. Our child is over 18, and will make their own decisions but I’d like to hear any thoughts or insights about this. It always helps me to feel like research in this area supports what we’re doing.
Thanks
