Just a general share, if that’s okay…  My daughter just celebrated her 5th birthday – YAY! That meant, however, we missed the most recent littles group.  We did have a great experience though with her 80-something year old Russian grandmother coming to visit for her birthday and seeming to really embrace our daughter’s transition. We have a strained relationship, so when our daughter first transitioned, we didn’t tell Grandma, but I did tell her a couple of weeks prior to her visit.

The heartbreak, well, I don’t know if it was a heartbreak, but definitely made me sad that my five-year-old has thoughts like this…  While getting ready for daycare this morning, she looks up at me and says “I never don’t want to be a girl!.”  The only thing I could do was hug her tight and tell her that she is a girl and can always be a girl.  She’s gets so much happiness and joy when someone calls her a girl or princess.  It’s so validating for her and us to see how happy she is since transitioning socially.
