Back in 2015 my son got his name legally changed, and got his gender changed on state ID, passport etc. However he would also like to have a court order stating his gender change as a document in itself – for instance to support passport renewal when the time comes and to support changing his gender on his certificate of citizenship without having to send his passport in the mail. He called the courthouse in Shoreline and was told he needs to go to the King County Superior Court in Seattle. He then called that court, but he said the information he got was vague and not very helpful to him.

Has anyone done this procedure? Does anyone know what kind of forms are involved and what documentation he will need to present to support his request? Where can he go for assistance with this? My son is an adult so will have to do the work himself.
