hormone changes and my response

My child was born female and several years ago decided that they were trans, started binding and then eventually had their breasts removed.  I did OK during all that.

 

Last year they decided to start hormones- T.   Their body has changed, their interests, their personality to a certain extent and I am really having a hard time seeing my former child (for 19 years) in this new person.

 

I am not sure how to work through the grief that I have……around not being able to “see”, “feel” the child that I had for the first 19 years.

And I’m not sure how best to stay connected.  My child (Mo) is away at college and is now 21.
