    Hello,

We are new to the whole community. Our daughter (15) just came out about a month ago. Other than name/pronouns and a few clothing items, we have not *done* much. We need a new physician who can help guide us through what choices we might face, direct us to specialists when necessary, etc.  I did find some posts on the yahoo group, but cannot find them now to write them down. I’ve heard references to Polyclinic (??) and the “Group Health” (now Kaiser) Adolescent Clinic in Factoria, I think it was, but I cannot remember the doctors’ names.

But I’d also like to know if it’s logical/appropriate to have a “close” physician (we’re in Sammamish – closer to I-90) so that if my child needs urgent care, or just a vaccination or something simple, I don’t have to drive all the way to Seattle or wherever the appropriate person is for more trans-related help. (Note: I’m the stay at home parent and I HATE driving, so I really fear having all medical stuff deep in north Seattle or some such.) I know we’re supposed to do whatever our kids need, but this is a real limitation for me. Factoria would be okay, but I’m still trying to figure out if the out-of-network costs make sense (I need to get some codes and run some numbers). So – does anyone know of Trans-friendly (not necessarily super knowledgeable) physicians in the Issaquah/Sammamish area?  Regence BS insurance a plus.

As a side note: we’ve been in the area for 3.5 years and my kids have been with Allegro Pediatrics the whole time. I dug and dug and dug on their site, and can find ZERO mention of anything LGBTQ+ related AT ALL. This is very discouraging. Does anyone have any experiences one way or another?

    Lisa
