Sorry for the kludgy title.  Did anyone else hear the NPR story yesterday (24 February) about the family whose child has an acellerated puberty (is almost full height at age 8, heading for menstruation…)?  The child was prescribed a puberty blocker with a very high price tag, but physician father wanted to know why they couldn’t use a similar blocker designed for people with slow-growing prostate cancer at less than half the price.  The focus of the story (part of a series) was on cost containment, and I was struck by the cost difference, but also kind of glad to hear blockers being discussed in any way in a public media outlet.
