So, when my daughter (now 8, almost 9) first socially transitioned, her pediatrician had referred us to the Seattle Children’s Gender clinic, which at the time, puberty was too far away and so they really just said, come back when she hits puberty. Cool. Soooo…. Dear daughter has recently started to worry she might be starting puberty because she is now getting dark, coarse, curly hair was there was previously no hair… The pediatrician had previously discussed the tanner stages and I know that is part of the indicators for puberty. Big question is – do I make the move to see the pediatrician sooner rather than later, or do I wait until our annual check up with is just about 3 months away now that we have noticed hair development? I’m worried that just because there is hair, that doesn’t mean puberty has started cause she really is still on the younger side but then again… who knows….
Anyone else have suggestions of what else I should be looking for as far as knowing when it’s time? Dear daughter can’t really tell if there has been any growth/change in size of the rest of her body parts.
