So great to welcome a number of new families to this group this month and to see some familiar faces as well!
We talked a bunch about conflicts in school with other students. The sharing and empathy were wonderful.
Other topics included:
- sharing with/disclosing to extended families;
- getting used to pronouns (and not beating ourselves up when we slip!);
- the unique perspectives and challenges with non-binary kiddos and;
- some of the logistics of name changes both at the school district level as well as legal name changes
A couple of resources discussed were the (apparently slightly controversial?) Genderbread Person (https://www.genderbread.org/resource/genderbread-person-v4-0) and the Gender Unicorn (http://www.transstudent.org/gender/)
