This Pride, We’re Celebrating Proud Parents
Here’s something we never get tired of hearing from people with trans/nonbinary children:
“I’m so proud.”
It warms our hearts hearing families talk about how proud they are of their children for living as their authentic selves, and this June is no different.
Family support, especially from parents, is undeniably important for the well-being of trans/nonbinary youth.
Over and over, studies show that when families are supportive and accepting of LGBTQ+ people, trans/nonbinary youth are happier and healthier with lower risks of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and more. In short: it’s essential that trans youth know that, no matter what their gender or sexual orientation, their families will be there to love and support them.
We know that it can be scary for families to learn that their child is trans/nonbinary. But, we also know that by embracing diversity, learning more, and showing unwavering support, we can all help trans children to thrive as their authentic selves.
This Pride, whether you are a caregiver of a trans/nonbinary child yourself or not, let’s celebrate unconditional love.
